Concerto Competition, Spring ‘25

The Finest City Wind Orchestra & Music Alliance is excited to announce our first annual Concerto Competition, open to all members of the organization. The selected soloist will have the opportunity to perform a concerto alongside the FCWO at the final concert of the season. We look forward to showcasing the exceptional talents of our members and promoting high-quality works for soloists and wind ensembles.

Repertoire should:

  • Be 4-10 minutes in length; single or multiple movements are acceptable.

  • Have an accompaniment with a grade 4 difficulty or below.

  • Be available for purchase or owned by the applicant.

An applicant must:

  • Be a member of the Finest City Wind Orchestra in good standing.

  • Submit an application including:

    1. CV/Resume and a short biography (100-200 words).

    2. The name and composer of the concerto and movements to be performed.

    3. An audio+video recording of the performance with either recorded or live accompaniment.

Please send your application and materials to finestmusic@gmail.com. Private YouTube links are acceptable for the audio+video recording.

Applications will be considered by a committee chaired by the FCWO music director, including four additional members from the FCWO board and ensemble. No applicants will serve on this committee. Past winners are encouraged to be committee members.

Timeline:

  • Applications must be received by Dec. 3.

  • Decisions will be announced by the end of January.

  • The selected concerto will be performed at the May 4 FCWO concert.
